After a long work week, this weekend has been all about relaxing, decompressing and catching up on things. One of the things that I needed to catch up on was my Tivo. I was behind a couple of weeks on all of my shows – Hawaii Five-O, The Event, Criminal Minds, Modern Family, Cougar Town, Caprica. I spent pretty much all day Saturday getting caught up on all of these.
Today, with the weather being so nice, I headed out to the Wild Animal Park. It’s been awhile since I last photographed anything so what better way to spend my afternoon at one of my favorite places with my camera.
This also gave me the opportunity to use the 70-200mm lens again. I’m absolutely loving the images coming out of this lens.
Tonight I attended my first meetup for the Northern San Diego Photography Group. Considering I have never gone to any type of meetup before, I had no idea what to expect. The group typically meet once a month at Panera Bread in Mira Mesa, CA which is about a 30 minute drive from where I work.
When I first walked in to Panera, I immediately recognized some of the members from their profiles on the group website. I was greeted by Joseph Lennox, one of the Assistant Organizers. He gave me a brief overview of the group and then basically let me go to converse with the rest of the members. I introduced myself to the other members and then sort’ve jumped in and out of conversations with different people.
The group caters to all levels of photographers but the majority of the attendees this evening were primarily professionals or business owners dealing in photography. There was one other person that I considered to be at the same level as I was. I spent most of the evening talking to him since both of us were going through the same learning curve and had similar questions about photography.
For the most part, the remainder of the evening was spent listening and learning from other members of the group. I’m looking forward to attending meetups where we go to different locations and take photos. I think definitely that is where I’ll get the most benefit. I can use the groups experience and expertise to help improve my own knowledge and technique.
It’s Sunday morning and I’m here at Starbucks having some breakfast and blogging. I was thinking about going to San Diego’s Wild Animal Park today but the weather looks ominous right now. I’ll have to re-evaluate that in a couple of hours.
I was actually planning to veg out at the condo all weekend since my roommate and his girlfriend were planning to both be out of town but that changed when I got a text from my roommate Friday night that his plans had changed. And of course, since he was going to be in town, the girlfriend decided to come down as well. Don’t get me wrong, they are both great people, but sometimes, it would be nice to have the condo to myself so I can just chill and relax without having to worry if I was going to bother or disturb them. They’re night owls and they love to sleep in. And for those of you who saw my tweet about being “naked and carefree” all weekend, that was meant to be a joke. 🙂 Although, Saturday morning, I think my neighbor was on the same wavelength because he was literally “hanging out” in the buff. Scary sight! LOL!
So now I’m surfing the web and catching up on blogs and social networking sites. I’ll probably be doing this for the next couple of hours until the weather clears (hopefully) so I can go out and about and take some pictures.

I just got back from spinning class and I’m exhausted! But you know what? I love it! Normally, I don’t like going to the gym for cardio, but this thing is awesome! There is nothing like the feeling you get after an intense workout. It just completely relaxes you and releases all the stress that has built up during the day.
I took my first class about 2 months ago and didn’t know if I’d like it or not. In fact, I really didn’t start going regularly until about 3 weeks ago because I made excuses not to go. I soon found out that the workout was very beneficial for me not only to release some stress but also to help control my ever expanding waistline. Since moving down to Carlsbad in October 2008, I’ve played less volleyball, twice to be exact, and so I needed to find a new outlet. I always wanted to try spinning and one afternoon, I finally took the plunge. I went once every two weeks initially and then once a week and recently, I started going twice a week. Now only if I can change my eating habits, I’d be set.
If you haven’t tried it, I would highly recommend it! If you belong to a gym, check for times and availability. If the classes are anything like mine, space is limited so make sure to get there early to reserve a spot. Happy spinning!

As the title of this post indicates….I’m baaack! Did you miss me?
I was using the new Sweetcron platform but got bored of it and decided to switch back to a WordPress powered blog. The WordPress install was simple enough and succeeded with flying colors. The only problem was, I couldn’t restore any of my old database from my previous install. At first, I was pissed since I lost about a year and half worth of posts. But after a few days, it actually became a blessing in disguise.
Let’s be honest, the content on the site was a bit lacking. I wasn’t really posting much and the things I was posting were boring as heck. It just became to oriented about my daily happenings. Boring stuff, right?
To make a long story short, I’m starting with a clean slate. Expect a more balanced blog covering my personal happenings, technology and my new passion – photography. Look out for new posts soon!
