One of my goals this year was to own a Canon L Series lens. I rented the 70-200mm f2.8 IS last summer and was in awe of not only the build quality of the lens but the pictures that it produced. The clarity, sharpness and DOF (depth of field) were amazing. I knew right there and then that I needed to start saving so I could start building my lens collection.
Fast foward to about a week ago when I got an unexpected surprise from work. With the small bonus that I got, I pulled the trigger and bought the Canon 24-70mm L lens. I received it last week and have been waiting to take pictures with it. Unfortunately, every time I’ve wanted to go out, the weather hasn’t played nice. Hopefully in the up coming days/weeks, I’ll be out and about shooting with this beauty.
After a week long rain-fest, we finally saw the sun today. I wasn’t about to miss out on this opportunity to soak up some sun, so I grabbed my camera and hung out at the beach. The one thing I love about heavy rain fall is that typically the day after, the light is amazing. Today was no different as the sun was golden during the late afternoon and early evening.
While spending some time with my nephew at Universal Studios, I got the chance to do some indoor skydiving at iFlyHollywood at Universal Studios CityWalk Hollywood. This was the best thing ever. The chance to “fly” without actually jumping out of a plane. If you have something similar around your area, definitely try it.
About two weeks ago, I received a message on Flickr from Emma Williams, the Managing Editor of Schmap Guides, indicating that one of my photos was on the short list that was being considered for the Eighth Edition of the Schmap San Diego Guide. All I needed to do was reply back indicating my approval to include it for consideration, which I gladly did.
The other day, I received an email verifying that my photo was chosen to be included in the upcoming edition. You can’t even imagine how psyched I am about this! Below is the photo that will be included in the San Diego guide for the Wild Animal Park.

I met up with my brother-in-law Ramel and nephew Tobey at the golf range after lunch today. Tobey is pretty active in different sports like gymnastics, swimming, tennis, karate and of course, golf. I took some pictures of his swing and finally had the opportunity to use the 6.3 fps (frames per second) of the 50D. With the exception of wearing two gloves (my dads influence on him), he’s not doing to bad.
Tiger Woods in the making? I think he’s heading in the right direction.
